Olivia man airlifted after crash with beet truck
DANUBE -- A 22-year-old Olivia man was airlifted Friday to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis for treatment of injuries suffered in a two-vehicle crash involving a semi around 7:40 a.m. near Danube.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, Sean Ziesmer was driving a 1998 Ford Taurus eastbound on U.S. Highway 212 west of Danube when he collided with a 1999 Mack driven westbound by Joe A. Chavarria, 57, of Redwood Falls. The truck was pulling a semi full of sugar beets, the State Patrol report said. The collision occurred in the eastbound lane of the highway.
Both drivers were transported to RC Hospital and Clinics in Olivia. Ziesmer was then airlifted to Minneapolis. Chavarria was treated and released.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts.
