ATV accident in Yellow Medicine County injures three

GRANITE FALLS -- Three 13-year-olds were hurt when the all-terrain vehicle they were on rolled over in a farm pasture on the 2900 block of 480th Street located seven miles west of Granite Falls at 3:47 p.m. on Saturday.

The Yellow Medicine County Sheriff's Office reports that the farm duty-style ATV was driven by Maija Engebretson, 13, of Blaine and held three 13-year-old passengers, all from the Twin Cities area.

Passengers Brooke Olson of Arden Hills, Ava Vallaume of Arden Hills, and Kristina Quanbeck of Roseville were injured and transported to the Granite Falls Hospital.

Olson was later transported to the Children's Hospital in St. Paul for her injuries.

The driver was not injured.

The Clarkfield and Granite Falls Ambulance squads responded to the accident.

Fight at bar

WILLMAR -- A 47-year-old Hutchinson man accused of causing a scene at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Club in Willmar was arrested on a McLeod County warrant after Willmar police officers responded to calls shortly before midnight Friday at the business on U.S. Highway 12 East.

The suspect had allegedly thrown a few punches as bouncers attempted to remove him, but he was reportedly calm when officers arrived.

Hit and run

WILLMAR -- A 2000 Kia was hit and damaged while parked along the 400 block of 30th Street Northwest, Willmar, it was reported Sunday morning. The vehicle is believed to have been hit during the night.

Vandalism

WILLMAR -- A window on the Pioneerland Library in Willmar on the 400 block of Fifth Street Southwest was broken in an act of vandalism Friday night.

Burglaries

WILLMAR -- A homeowner returned early Saturday morning to discover that someone had broken into the house on the 1500 block of Ninth Street Southeast, Willmar, and stolen a number of electronic goods.

A flat-screen TV, DVDs, Playstation, two laptop computers and a phone charger were among the items missing.

The burglar or burglars had gained entry though an egress window, but apparently left through the front door. The resident found it had been unlocked.

KANDIYOHI -- A resident on the 11000 block of U.S. Highway 12, Kandiyohi, reported Saturday morning that someone had broken into the garage and stoles several tools during the night.

Drug arrest at jail

WILLMAR -- A 19-year-old male inmate at the Kandiyohi County Jail was arrested at the facility on Sunday morning for allegedly have drugs in his possession.
