Meeker County deputies start grass fire with launcher
LITCHFIELD -- Meeker County sheriff's deputies were unable to extinguish a grass fire that started around 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Litchfield Police Gun Range along 615th Avenue.
According to information from Sheriff Jeff Norlin, the deputies were training with 37mm launcher systems and one of the gas projectiles from the launcher caused a grass fire along the backstop of the range. The deputies attempted to extinguish the blaze with a fire extinguisher, but were unable to do so.
The Litchfield Fire Department fully extinguished the fire without other damage to property.
WILLMAR -- The Willmar Fire Department was called around 5:30 a.m. Wednesday to 1128 Florence Lane S.W. According to Jeff Gilbertson, interim fire chief, the house was filled with smoke, which was caused by a malfunction of the furnace controls. The department remained on the scene until the smoke was ventilated from the home.
WILLMAR -- Two women, ages 19 and 26, were cited for disorderly conduct and assault after a fight was reported around 8:20 a.m. Wednesday at the county jail.
SPICER -- A burglary was reported around 9 a.m. Wednesday along Manitoba Street.
