Eden Valley man hurt in Sunday snowmobile crash
LITCHFIELD — A 20-year-old Eden Valley man was taken to Meeker Memorial Hospital in Litchfield for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries sustained in a snowmobile crash around 1:30 p.m. Sunday in rural Meeker County.
According to the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office, Evan Blackwell was driving westbound on a 2005 Ski-Doo 800cc snowmobile when he struck a power pole in the north side ditch of County Road 3 west of State Highway 4 in Union Grove Township.
This crash is under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office. Also responding were the Grove City Rescue squad and Paynesville Ambulance.
Property damage
WILLMAR — Damage to washing machines was reported around 11 a.m. Monday along the 1400 block of Fifth Street Southwest.
WILLMAR — Damage to a car window was reported around 8 p.m. Sunday along the 2600 block of 15th Avenue Northwest.
Theft
WILLMAR — A case of theft was reported around 10:45 a.m. Monday along the 1900 block of Highway 12 West.
WILLMAR — The theft of a mini iPad and accessories was reported around 9:40 a.m. Monday along the 1800 block of Technology Drive Northeast.
WILLMAR — The theft of cash was reported around 8:30 a.m. Monday at the Kandi Mall, 1605 First St. S.
Burglary
NEW LONDON — A burglary was reported around 12:40 p.m. Monday along the 21000 block of Fifth Street Northwest.
District Court
Kandiyohi County
- Esteban Trevino Jr., 19, of Willmar, made his first appearance Monday on a felony charge of domestic assault by strangulation.
Unconditional bail was set at $10,000. His next appearance is Jan. 31.
Trevino also faces a misdemeanor charge of underage consumption of alcohol.
According to the complaint, Willmar police were called to domestic incident just before 6 a.m. Saturday at a home in the northwest quadrant of the city. A woman reported that Trevino had come to the house drunk and had an argument with her. She said Trevino attempted to strangle her by placing his hands on her neck. During the incident, the woman yelled loudly for help and a neighbor called 911.
Trevino denied assaulting the woman. A breath test was administered and showed he had a blood-alcohol content of 0.064.
