Crash
WILLMAR — Willmar Police said Terry K. Matthewman, 25, of Willmar was injured Friday morning in a snowmobile crash on U.S. Highway 12 West and 30th Street Northwest. Police were called at 9:32 a.m. Matthewman said he was traveling between 30 and 40 mph when he braked for a sign and the 1999 Arctic Cat rolled over. He was taken by Willmar Ambulance to Rice Hospital emergency room for treatment of a back injury.
Five calves lost in barn fire near Kimball
KIMBALL — A barn was severely damaged and five calves died in a fire reported early Friday morning at a rural Kimball residence.
According to the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office, the Watkins Fire Department was paged to the blaze around 4:45 a.m. Friday to 15234 150th St. in Luxemburg Township, which is about 4½ miles northwest of Kimball.
The barn, owned by Ronald Molitor, 52, of Watkins, contained tractors and the calves. The cause of the blaze may have been heating lamps used to keep a calf warm.
