Drivers hurt in Highway 12 crash near Darwin

LITCHFIELD — The drivers of two vehicles involved in a crash around 6 a.m. Monday morning along U.S. Highway 12 near Darwin were taken to Meeker Memorial Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

According to the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office, Michael Ostvig, 45, of Litchfield, was driving eastbound in a 1996 Toyota Corolla just east of County Road 14 when he struck a deer causing him to lose control and strike a westbound 2000 Dodge Caravan driven by Elsa Caballero, 36, of Cokato.

This crash is currently under investigation by the State Patrol. Also responding were the Dassel fire and rescue crews and Gold Cross Ambulance.

Dawson woman hurt in rollover along Highway 212

DAWSON — A 34-year-old Dawson woman was taken to Chippewa County-Montevideo Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries sustained in a one-vehicle rollover crash around 3:20 p.m. Sunday east of Dawson.

According to the State Patrol, Rebecca J. Johnson was driving a 2007 Chevy Silverado westbound on U.S. Highway 212, lost control on the icy roadway, spun off the road and rolled multiple times.

Also responding was the Lac qui Parle County Sheriff’s Office.

Cottonwood couple in rollover at Highways 212 and 75

DAWSON — A 69-year-old Cottonwood man was taken to the Dawson Hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in a one-vehicle rollover crash around 2:30 p.m. Sunday west of Dawson.

According to the State Patrol, Harold E. Kalass was driving a 2000 Chevy Blazer that left the road due to icy conditions and rolled near the intersection of U.S Highways 212 and 75 west of Dawson.

A passenger in his vehicle, Marian M. Kalass was not injured. Both occupants were wearing their seat belts.

Also responding was the Lac qui Parle County Sheriff’s Office.

Arrest

WILLMAR — A 53-year-old man was arrested on charges of driving while impaired around 9:20 p.m. Sunday along the 1100 block of First Street South.

Theft

WILLMAR — A theft was reported around 9:50 p.m. Sunday along the 1000 block of Fifth Street Southwest.

Assault

NEW LONDON — An assault was reported around 3:20 a.m. Monday along the 6100 block of 195th Avenue Northeast.
