Car breaks through ice on Big Kandi
WILLMAR — A 17-year-old driver and her passenger escaped after the car she was driving broke through the ice and began sinking on Big Kandiyohi Lake around 11:39 p.m. on Saturday.
The driver and a 17-year male, passenger went to a fish house near the Northern Lights beach area.
The owner of the 2000 Chrysler will have it removed.
DWI charge, wrong way on highway
WILLMAR — A 43-year-old man from Nelson, Minn., was charged with driving under the influence and open container after being stopped while traveling north in the southbound lane of U.S. Highway 71 near 195th Avenue Southeast in Kandiyohi County at 9:11 a.m. on Sunday.
Van crosses center line, strikes mirror of approaching vehicle
RAYMOND — Sheriff’s deputies in Kandiyohi County searched for what was described as a blue-green colored van that crossed the centerline on state Highway 23 on the west side of Raymond and struck the side mirror of an approaching SUV vehicle at 5:47 p.m. on Saturday.
The driver of the SUV attempted to follow the vehicle as it proceeded north on Kandiyohi County Road 7.
Pieces of the damaged side mirror were recovered along the highway.
Charges for vehicle mishap
WILLMAR — A 47-year-old man faces charges following a property damage accident at the intersection of Becker Avenue and First Street Southwest at 11:34 p.m. on Friday.
Charges of third degree driving under influence, refusal, fourth degree driving under the influence, no proof of insurance, reckless driving, and failure to stop were to be filed.
A 1992 Dodge and 2005 Pontiac were involved.
WILLMAR — A Willmar woman told police Saturday evening that a man took $380 in cash from her purse, telling her he would pay her back when he got a good-paying job.
The 27-year-old suspect had just been released from the Stearns County Jail.
WILLMAR — A 12-year-old girl was taken by ambulance to Rice memorial Hospital after she was found intoxicated at a party at a residence on the 300 block of Vos Park Drive at 1:39 a.m. on Saturday.
