Olivia woman to St. Cloud Hospital after head-on crash
OLIVIA — A 59-year-old Olivia woman was taken to St. Cloud Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries sustained in a two-vehicle head-on crash around 4:10 p.m. Tuesday along U.S. Highway 71 in Renville County.
According to the State Patrol, Sandra L. Frank was driving a 2001 Chevy Silverado that was southbound and collided with a northbound 2007 Mercury Montego driven by Jennifer A. Forsman, 33, of Olivia. She sustained minor injuries.
Also responding was the Renville County Sheriff’s Office.
Theft
RAYMOND — The theft of an iPod was reported around 7:45 p.m. Tuesday along Third Street.
Property Damage
WILLMAR — Damage was reported around 3:15 p.m. Tuesday along the 300 block of Seventh Street Northwest.

Kandiyohi County
- Emilio Florez, 38, of Atwater, made his first appearance Wednesday on a felony charge of violating a domestic assault no-contact order.
Unconditional bail was set at $40,000. His next appearance is Feb. 19.
According to the complaint, a Willmar Police officer was informed on Jan. 22 that Florez had contacted a woman whom he was court-ordered to have no contact with via a letter mailed from the county jail. The letter came from another inmate, but was from Florez, who asked the woman to get another domestic assault charge against him dismissed. The letter was signed “King” a known alias for Florez.
The investigation showed that there is a current no-contact order prohibiting Florez from contacting the woman. Florez was interviewed at the county jail and said the letter was to his soon-to-be mother-in-law, not the woman he’d been jailed for assaulting. He claimed he borrowed the envelope from the other inmate.
Florez has prior convictions for domestic assault by strangulation, in December 2005, and for violating a no-contact order, in September 2008.
- Stephen Robert Swenson, 44, of Willmar, made his first appearance Wednesday on two second-degree drug sale charges for allegedly selling methamphetamine to a CEE-VI Drug Task Force informant in May.
Unconditional bail was set at $50,000. His next appearance is Feb. 14.
According to the complaint, the informant purchased 8 grams of meth from Swenson on May 15 and 6.4 grams of meth from Swenson on May 18, with both deals happening in the parking lot of the local Wal-Mart Supercenter. The drugs tested positive as meth during tests performed by the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension. The informant identified Swenson as the person who sold him the drugs.
Swenson has prior convictions for second-degree controlled substance crime in November 2002 and fifth-degree controlled substance and conspiracy to commit controlled substance crime in April 2002.
