- Richard Lee Ahlbrecht, 32, of Grove City, made his first appearance Monday on a felony charge of fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle for allegedly running from law enforcement officers late Friday night.
Ahlbrecht also faces misdemeanor charges of driving after revocation, reckless driving and fleeing on foot. His next appearance is March 25.
According to the complaint, a Kandiyohi County sheriff’s deputy was parked around 11:25 p.m. Friday along 12th Avenue Northeast just east of Business 71 in Willmar in an unmarked squad vehicle and saw a Jeep that Ahlbrecht was suspected of driving. The deputy had information that Ahlbrecht would be in the area and saw that Ahlbrecht was indeed driving the vehicle after it spun out on the ice and the headlights of the squad car shone directly into windshield of the vehicle.
The Jeep drove away on Business 71 at speeds reaching 80 mph and continued on Ella Avenue. A marked Willmar police car took over the pursuit, which ended when the Jeep driver lost control, spun out and ran into a fence. The driver ran away and was located near the railroad tracks. Two passengers were in the vehicle and told officers they had asked Ahlbrecht to stop the vehicle.
- Daniel Martinez, 35, of Willmar, made his first appearance Monday on two second-degree drug sale and possession charges for selling methamphetamine, pills and marijuana to a CEE-VI Drug Task Force informant in December and February and for possessing 9.7 grams of meth when officers served a search warrant on his residence on Friday.
Unconditional bail was set at $100,000. His next appearance is March 21.
Martinez, Randall Gene Mulligan, 47, of Willmar, and Sharon Kay Hagen, 49, of Montevideo, were charged in the case. Mulligan faces a third-degree drug sale charge and a fifth-degree drug possession charge. Hagen faces a fifth-degree drug possession count. Mulligan and Hagen both make their next appearance on March 25.
According to the complaints, the informant purchased nine morphine pills and 4.6 grams of marijuana from Martinez on Dec. 19 at a residence along Litchfield Avenue. The informant also purchased 0.7 grams of meth from Martinez on Dec. 7 at a Gay Street home.
On Feb. 27, the informant purchased 2.8 grams of meth, with both Martinez and Mulligan participating in the sale, in the parking lot of a business on U.S. Highway 12 East.
Agents followed the vehicle involved in the drug sale to a residence along County Road 9 Southeast, where a search warrant was served Friday. The three defendants and another person were located in the home. Mulligan allegedly told officers that all of the paraphernalia located in the kitchen, including syringes and spoons that tested positive for meth, belonged to him.
When he was interviewed, Martinez allegedly claimed the 9.7 grams of meth located in a bedroom and also admitted to selling drugs.
