Driver dies in crash GRANITE FALLS — A driver was pronounced dead at the scene of a one-vehicle crash Saturday morning off Highway 67 near the Upper Sioux Community at Granite Falls.
A van driven by Brent Earl Anderson, 62, of the Upper Sioux Community, rolled over a steep embankment on the south side of the highway at about 9:45 a.m. Anderson apparently suffered a medical emergency and lost consciousness, according to a release from the Upper Sioux Police Department. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two female occupants of the van were transported by ambulance to the Granite Falls Hospital with minor injuries, according to the release.
The Upper Sioux Police Department and Minnesota State Patrol responded to the scene and were assisted by the Granite Falls Fire Department, Granite Falls Ambulance, and the Yellow Medicine County Sheriff’s Department.
The crash is currently under investigation by the Minnesota State Patrol and the Upper Sioux Police Department.
Arrests SPICER — A 30-year-old Paynesville man was arrested for two counts on fourth-degree driving under the influence at 2:30 a.m. Sunday near Lake Avenue South and Indian Beach Road.
WILLMAR — A 28-year-old Kerkhoven woman was arrested at about 1 p.m. Saturday after allegedly leaving Casey’s on 19th Avenue Southwest without paying for $40.11 in gas. When Willmar Police attempted to pull her over, she fled, leading them on a short pursuit through southwest Willmar. She then stopped her car and fled on foot. She was arrested on a felony charge of fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle.
SPICER — A report of a suspicious person outside the Spicer American Legion led to the arrest of a 22-year-old Willmar man on felony charges of fifth-degree drug sale and fifth-degree drug possession.
Theft WILLMAR — A Willmar man reported at 1:30 p.m. Saturday that a laptop and case and a wallet with $150 in it had been stolen from him by some people who had given him a ride.
NEW LONDON — The theft of a brown leather wallet and other items from the center console of a vehicle were reported in the 16100 block of Golf View Road in New London.
WILLMAR — The theft of a wallet was reported at 6:07 p.m. Friday. The person reporting the theft said she believed it had been stolen from her cart at Wal-Mart Supercenter.
WILLMAR — Damage to the side mirror of a vehicle was reported at 7 a.m. Saturday in the 1000 block of Campbell Avenue Northwest. The initial complaint report said that a bat may have been used to damage the vehicle.
WILLMAR — Damage was reported to a mailbox in the 900 block of 60 th Avenue Northeast at 10:45 a.m. Sunday.
