Villard man killed in Pope County crash

GLENWOOD — A 75-year-old Villard man was killed in a two-vehicle fatal crash around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday morning along State Highway 28 south of Villard in Pope County.

According to the State Patrol, Clifford W. Euerle was driving westbound in a 1998 Buick on 150th Street, stopped at the stop sign and then pulled onto Highway 28 into the path of a southbound 2003 Ford pickup driven by James R. Hoppe, 51, of Freeport.

Hoppe was not injured. Also responding were the Glenwood police, fire and ambulance crews, Villard fire and first responders, Starbuck Ambulance and the Pope County Sheriff’s Office.

Property damage

WILLMAR — Spray-painted graffiti on poles, an electric utility box, signs and the parking lot were reported around 2 p.m. Monday along the 1300 block of 24th Street Northwest.

WILLMAR — Damage to an electric meter was reported around 4 p.m. Monday along the 400 block of 30th Street Northwest.

WILLMAR — Damage to a window was reported around 9 p.m. Monday along the 400 block of Becker Avenue Southwest.

Assault

WILLMAR — An assault was reported around 10:40 p.m. Monday along the 1400 block of Fifth Street Southwest.

Theft

WILLMAR — The theft of cash from a purse was reported around 12:10 p.m. Tuesday along the 1600 block of First Street South.

District Court

Kandiyohi County

- Rodney Allan Schliemann, 40, of Kerkhoven, made his first appearance Tuesday on a felony charge of third-degree assault and a misdemeanor charge of domestic assault.

Unconditional bail was set at $30,000. His next appearance is Tuesday.

According to the complaint, a woman reported on March 6 that she’d been assaulted five days earlier by Schliemann at a rural Atwater residence. The woman had visible injuries to her face and said that Schliemann had thrown her to the ground and hit and kicked her. Friends brought the woman to Rice Memorial Hospital, where she was treated for a concussion, nasal bone fracture and facial contusions.
