Port-a-potty burned at lake access
LAKE JENNIE — The Meeker County Sheriff’s Office and Dassel Fire and Rescue responded to a report of a Port-a-potty on fire Thursday evening at the Lake Jennie Public Access on Meeker County Road 18.
A man reported the fire shortly after 6:30 p.m. while he was launching his boat from the access. He said he heard the cracking sound of wood on fire and saw that the structure surrounding the Port-a-potty was on fire and was melting the plastic structure.
Dassel Fire and Rescue extinguished the fire, but the structure was a total loss. The value of the wooden structure was estimated at $200.
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources was notified of the damage to the rented Port-a-potty.
The cause of the fire is undetermined, and the Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help. WILLMAR — A person reportedly cashed a $3,905 check made out to someone else at Quick Funds, 222 Third St. S.W. The theft was reported at 9:20 a.m. Thursday.
WILLMAR — The theft of a Samsung Galaxy 4S cell phone and a pair of Tasco binoculars were reported stolen from the 900 block of Seventh Street Northwest. The theft was reported after 11 p.m. Thursday.
WILLMAR — A 32-year-old woman was arrested at about 6 p.m. Thursday after allegedly trying to leave Target, 2505 First St. S., with more than $1,700 in unpaid merchandise.
