District Court

Kandiyohi County

- Travis Daniel Clermont, 36, of Zimmerman, made his first appearance Monday on a felony charge of theft for allegedly stealing a vehicle.

Unconditional bail was set at $10,000. His next appearance is Dec. 23.

According to the complaint, the Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s office received a report on Thursday that a vehicle had been stolen. Relatives of the owner of the vehicle reported their friend had asked for a ride, which they had declined to offer and that the vehicle was missing the next morning.

Later that same day, the Osakis Police Department informed the local sheriff’s office that they had located the car and a man who was acting erratically and attempting to put gas in the vehicle. The man was identified as Clermont and arrested. He claimed another man had driven the vehicle, but officers found the key to the vehicle in his pocket when he was searched at the jail. He was later identified as the person who took the vehicle in a photo lineup by one of the relatives.
