District Court, Kandiyohi County
- Tracy Ellen Guerrero, 32, of Willmar, pleaded guilty Monday to a felony charge of theft for attempting to shoplift more than $1,700 in merchandise from the local Target store.
She will be sentenced April 8.
The charge was filed after Aug. 22, when the shoplifting case was reported to Willmar Police. Loss prevention agents at the store provided the responding officer with video footage of Guerrero, showing her taking empty Target shopping bags into the store and filling them with jewelry, clothing and other items. The surveillance footage showed Guerrero moving from department to department, taking items and putting them into the bags in her cart. She was stopped at the exit door by the loss prevention agent.
Guerrero told the officer that during prior shoplifting incidents, she had been high, but that this time, she was sober. Store officials provided police with receipt to tally the cost of the merchandise, which was $1,773.41 before tax was added.
