WILLMAR — Two people were taken by ambulance to Rice Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in a two-vehicle crash just before 8 a.m. Thursday along Civic Center Drive near the intersection with County Road 9 near Willmar Senior High School.

According to Willmar Police, Sahane Bare, 48, of Willmar, was eastbound on Civic Center Drive in a 2001 Chevy sedan and lost control of the vehicle, which went into the other lane and collided with a westbound 2012 Dodge van driven by Karen Knapp, 63, of Willmar.

Bare and an 11-year-old passenger in Knapp’s vehicle were taken by Willmar Ambulance for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The Kandiyohi County Rescue Squad also responded to the crash.

District Court, Kandiyohi County

- Nathan Dale Sturm, 29, of Willmar, pleaded guilty Thursday to a felony charge of driving while impaired.

As part of a plea agreement, another felony count and a gross misdemeanor for violating the restriction on this driver’s license prohibiting the use of alcohol will be dismissed.

He will be sentenced April 14.

The charges were filed after Nov. 8, when a Willmar police officer stopped Sturm’s vehicle just after 3:30 a.m. near the intersection of Trott Avenue and Third Street Southeast because the vehicle’s headlights were not on.

Sturm showed signs of alcohol consumption and field sobriety tests showed signs of intoxication. A preliminary breath test showed a blood-alcohol content of 0.168 percent. He was arrested and a breath test at the Law Enforcement Center showed a blood-alcohol content of 0.20. The legal limit for driving is 0.08.

Sturm has three prior convictions for driving while impaired in October 2004, July 2005 and April 2007.
