WILLMAR — Campers at the Sonshine Festival reported that a cooler full of food was stolen from their campsite on the festival grounds north of Willmar. The theft took place Wednesday night during the main show.

District Court, Kandiyohi County

- Derek Bergen Ellingson, 35, of Willmar made a first appearance in Kandiyohi County Eighth District Court Thursday on felony charges of second-degree burglary and theft.

Judge Jennifer Fischer set bail at $40,000. Ellingson’s next court appearance is scheduled for July 28.

The charges stem from a burglary and theft reported June 23 at a house in the 300 block of Litchfield Avenue Southeast. The resident told Willmar police that $2,500 in cash was stolen while he was at work.

Through interviews, police were led to Ellingson as a suspect. A witness who reported seeing a vehicle at the scene later positively identified him, according to court documents.
