National Guard soldiers returning to Willmar on Saturday after 10-month deployment

Accidents

WILLMAR -- Four people were injured Friday afternoon in a two-vehicle accident on Business Highway 71 North.

The driver of one vehicle was cited in the incident.

According to the police report Sylvia Wodash, 52, of Willmar was going west on 13th Avenue approaching Business Highway 71 around 2 p.m. Friday. She stopped at the stop sign and then continued to drive her 2002 Dodge Dakota pickup into the intersection where it collided with a 2008 Toyota driven by Jennifer Lynn Williams, 33, of Willmar. Williams was going north on Highway 71 at the time.

Wodash, Williams and two passengers, Michaela Wodash, 17, and Lori Williams, 55, were treated for injuries at Rice Memorial Hospital.

Wodash was cited for failing to yield the right of way and for driving after revocation.

NEW LONDON -- Rescue personnel responded to a report of a snowmobile accident Sunday afternoon near New London.

According to the preliminary report, an individual fell off a snowmobile at 2:03 p.m. on County Road 40, about a half mile west of New London and may have suffered a concussion.

Assaults

WILLMAR -- A 37-year old Blomkest man was arrested at 10:45 a.m. Saturday on charges of domestic assault by strangulation and physical assault. The 31-year old victim was being treated for injuries at Rice Memorial Hospital's emergency room when she asked to speak to police about the assault that had occurred at 4 a.m. in the 3000 block of Southwest County Road 15.

WILLMAR -- A 14-year old girl from Apple Valley was arrested at 8:50 p.m. Saturday at a treatment facility on the MinnWest Technology campus on charges of fifth degree assault and terroristic threats.

Burglary

WILLMAR -- A burglary was reported at 3:21 p.m. Friday in the 300 block of Seventh Street Northwest. A Gateway laptop computer was reported stolen. The victim identified two females driving a silver Pontiac Bonneville as suspects.

Railroad arms strike semi

WILLMAR -- A railroad crossing arm struck a semi and broke Friday afternoon on Highway 23 and Southwest 105th Street. According to the initial report, a semi truck stopped right before the railroad tracks and as the arm descended it struck the semi and broke. The incident was reported at 5:15 p.m.

Arrest

ATWATER -- A 38-year old Minneapolis man was arrested early Saturday morning in Atwater on alcohol-related charges. The incident happened at 1:36 a.m. on Idaho Avenue when the driver, and a passenger from Atwater, got stuck in a snow bank.

Vandalism

WILLMAR -- A truck located in the 300 block of Sixth Street Southeast was vandalized with spray paint. The incident was reported shortly before noon on Saturday. At 12:23 p.m., police responded to a report that a garage in the 400 block of Southeast Becker Avenue had been vandalized with spray paint.
