- Jennifer Ann VanZee, 33, and Nicholas Frederick Scheeler, 40, of Raymond, both made their first appearances Monday on first-degree drug possession charges, along with felony and gross misdemeanor charges of child endangerment, for possessing drugs and paraphernalia, including a glass bong used to smoke meth.
Unconditional bail was set at $70,000 for each, with conditional bail allowed for $5,000 cash only. Both were ordered to have no contact with each other and no weapons. Both make their next appearances on March 8.
According to the complaint, as part of an ongoing investigation by CEE-VI Drug Task Force agents into the distribution of meth in the Willmar area, agents conducted a garbage collection at the couple's home on Oct. 27. The collection had been arranged with the sanitation company and produced three bags of trash, including a green leafy substance that tested positive as marijuana and a bag with white powder residue.
The next day, a search warrant was served and officers located marijuana, bags with meth residue, a marijuana pipe and seeds that appeared to be marijuana. They also located a glass bong used for smoking meth with water in it and a propane torch.
In a bedroom used by several juveniles, officers also located pornographic magazines and journals with photos that appeared to show juveniles under the influence.
The state Bureau of Criminal Apprehension analyzed the bong water and determined it was positive for meth and measured as 115 grams.
VanZee was arrested, and during an interview with officers blamed the drugs on an old roommate but admitted she'd used the bong for smoking meth.
She has a prior conviction for fifth-degree drug possession in July 2008.
