Boaters cited

SPICER -- The Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Office issued a citation to a Paynesville man, 27, for careless operation of a watercraft. The ticket was issued Saturday evening at the Green Lake boat access.

Also, a written warning was issued to a Spicer man, 31, who was operating a boat that came too close to swimmers Friday afternoon at Island View Resort on Nest Lake.

Accident

NORTHOME -- The Minnesota State Patrol said Kristyn Osterhaus, 17, of Paynesville was treated at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale for a non-life-threatening injury suffered in a one-vehicle crash at 2:20 a.m. Saturday.

The crash occurred two miles south of Northome at the intersection of Highway 46 and Itasca County Road 24. The patrol said the 1979 Jeep open top in which she was a passenger went through the intersection, vaulted and struck a ditch embankment.

Six other young people, all from northern Minnesota, were also in the vehicle. One was treated and released; two were not hurt; and the condition of the others was not documented.

Assaults

WILLMAR -- Authorities arrested three individuals in connection with separate assault incidents over the weekend.

A 29-year-old man is facing charges of second-degree assault and fifth-degree domestic assault after threatening a man and a woman with a knife Sunday morning in Willmar.

Police arrested a 24-year-old Sioux Falls, S.D., man early Sunday morning for domestic assault and on a Kandiyohi County warrant for assaulting a 31-year-old woman, also from Sioux Falls.

In Spicer, a 21-year-old Spicer man was arrested and charged with fifth-degree assault and fleeing a police officer in connection with an assault of a 31-year-old Spicer man.

Burglary

WILLMAR -- Willmar police officers investigated the burglary of a trailer behind Lakeview Motel. The owners reported Saturday that they had returned to the trailer after more than a month's absence and found the interior trashed and everything gone.

Thefts

SPICER -- Three Coke machines and two Pepsi machines were forcibly entered and money taken at Little Crow Country Club of rural Spicer, according to a report to the Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Office on Saturday.

WILLMAR -- Police received a report Friday that a $125 Yardman grass trimmer was taken from a residence in the 1800 block of Trott Avenue Southwest.

Shoplifter

WILLMAR -- A 26-year-old woman from Litchfield was arrested Friday afternoon for shoplifting at Wal-Mart Supercenter. Willmar police said the woman attempted to take merchandise valued at about $222.

Fraud

WILLMAR -- An 82-year-old Willmar woman told police on Friday that she was scammed out of $1,900. She reported that she was asked by a male individual to meet her at a local fast-food restaurant and give her the cash. No other information about the incident was immediately available.
