Meeker County gets grant money, to upgrade boat radios, medical gear
LITCHFIELD -- The Meeker County Sheriff's Office has received $18,000 in federal grant funding for its boat and water patrol program.
According to a news release from Sheriff Jeff Norlin, the money will be used to upgrade boat and water radios to the 800 MHz Armer Radio System, and to upgrade medical equipment such as new oxygen tanks and backboards that stay afloat with the rescue victims.
The federal funding is administered through the State Department of Natural Resources.
Franklin woman treated, released after two-vehicle crash near Fairfax
FAIRFAX -- A 53-year-old Franklin woman was treated and released from Renville County Hospital after a two-vehicle crash around 9:20 a.m. Wednesday at the intersection of State Highways 19 and 4.
According to the State Patrol, Connie L. Serbus was driving a 2008 Chevy Silverado that collided with a 2005 Chevy Tahoe driven by Daryn C. Mcbeth, 39, of Plymouth. Mcbeth was southbound on Highway 4, stopped at the stop sign and proceeded into the intersection in front of Serbus' vehicle. Mcbeth's vehicle rolled onto its roof as a result of the collision. He was not injured.
Both drivers were wearing seatbelts.
WILLMAR -- A 26-year-old Willmar man was arrested around 3:45 p.m. Tuesday at Regency Estates East, 1400 Lakeland Drive Northeast. Charges include fifth-degree drug possession.
SPICER -- Damage to a car window was reported around 12:15 p.m. Tuesday along Indian Beach Road.
SPICER -- A case of check forgery was reported around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday along Progress Drive in Spicer.
