Boater injured

SPICER -- Gerald Dean Gravley, 52, of Spicer was injured at 7:23 p.m. Friday when he jumped off a pontoon in the 1400 block of Northeast Skyline Drive on Green Lake and hit his head. According to the preliminary report Gravley couldn't feel his legs after the fall. He was taken by New London ambulance to Rice Memorial Hospital and later airlifted to an unknown hospital.


The Willmar Ambulance Service, Spicer First Responders and the Minnesota State Patrol assisted at the scene.

Fight call

WILLMAR -- Willmar Police were called to the 200 block of Northeast Havana Street at 12:34 a.m. Sunday after an adult male reported that a group of 10-12 gang members had bats and were trying to start a fight with the caller. A fight did not take place but four individuals were cited for underage consumption and another was also cited for possession of drug paraphernalia. Four of the individuals were juveniles under the age of 18.

Attempted break-in

WILLMAR -- Four juveniles were apprehended at 1:23 a.m. Saturday after an individual reported seeing individuals attempting to break into his house in the 600 block of Southwest Third Street. Two juveniles were cited for a curfew violation and two were cited for underage consumption.

Criminal sex violation

LAKE LILLIAN -- Two juveniles were apprehended at 2 p.m. on Friday at a rural Lake Lillian residence on warrants from Redwood County for criminal sexual charges.


WILLMAR -- A vehicle and a house sustained minor damage during a collision Sunday morning in the 1700 block of Gorton Ave. Northwest. The incident happened shortly before 10 a.m. when a vehicle driven by a 66-year old woman from Brookings, S.D. struck the house. According to a preliminary police report, the vehicle's brakes failed and the vehicle ran a stop sign, jumped a curb and then hit the house.

WILLMAR -- A 41-year-old Willmar man was taken to Rice Memorial Hospital Saturday afternoon when a vehicle fell on top of him. According to the preliminary report, two jacks that were supporting the vehicle fell over and the vehicle fell on the victim. He was able to get out from under the vehicle but was bleeding from the arm.

Driving arrests

WILLMAR -- A 32-year old Willmar man was arrested Friday night on charges of second degree DWI and inattentive driving following a property damage accident on Sixth Street Southwest and 25th Ave. The incident was reported at 6:35 p.m.

WILLMAR -- An 18-year old Willmar man was cited for underage consumption and careless driving involving a crash for a one-vehicle roll-over that happened early Sunday morning by Kandiyohi County Road 24 and U.S. Highway 71. The incident was reported at 3:30 a.m. when an ambulance driver who was on his way to work noticed a vehicle in the ditch on its roof. The driver of the vehicle was not injured.


WILLMAR -- A purse was reported stolen early Sunday morning at the VFW. A 43-year old woman from Wisconsin told police she'd left her purse on a table while she was dancing. When she came back to the table the people sitting next to her, and her purse, were gone. The incident was reported at 12:50 a.m.

WILLMAR -- A man walked out of Best Buy with two Toshiba laptop computers and a CD Saturday afternoon. The incident was reported at 3:11 p.m. The suspect was described as a Hispanic male in his early 20s wearing black shorts, T-shirt, hat and sunglasses.

NEW LONDON -- A 1995 EZ-Go Medalist golf cart was reported stolen from Northwest First Avenue on Saturday morning. The cart, valued at $2,500, was parked by the home when it was taken. The theft happened sometime between 10 p.m. Friday and 5 a.m. Saturday.

WILLMAR -- A 41-year old Blomkest man told police a brief case with a laptop computer had been stolen Friday evening from the 1400 block of Sixth Street Southwest. He'd left the bag by a bush in the front yard of a friend's house. Police later learned that the computer hadn't been stolen but had been removed by the man's mother to "teach him a lesson about leaving his belongings in the bush."


WILLMAR -- Tires on a Ford pick-up were slashed in Vos Park. The incident was reported at 10:45 a.m. on Saturday.

NEW LONDON -- Someone detached the buoys at Kandiyohi County Park 7 swimming area on Games Lake Saturday night. The park managers discovered that the buoys had floated away on Sunday morning. They were later located and returned.

WILLMAR -- An individual admitted Sunday morning that he had kicked and damaged the rear passenger side of a vehicle in the 100 block of Northeast Ella Avenue. He told police he had damaged the vehicle after being dared to do so and being promised $50. The owner of the vehicle declined to press criminal charges.


PAYNESVILLE -- The Paynesville Fire Department responded to a report of hay bales on fire near 172 Avenue on the Tri-County Road, north of Kandiyohi County Road 2 in Meeker County. The incident was reported at 6:05 a.m. on Sunday.
