Willmar police obtain grant to continue underage compliance checks
WILLMAR -- The Willmar Police Department has obtained grant funding to continue its alcohol compliance checks of all businesses selling liquor in the city.
The Minnesota Institute of Public Health awarded the grant funding through a Department of Public Safety program, according to a news release from the Police Department.
The grant is sufficient to allow the department to conduct compliance checks at all licensed liquor establishments in Willmar twice during the next 10 months.
Compliance checks are aimed at preventing underage persons from obtaining alcohol. The checks involve a person under age 21 who works with the police and enters establishments attempting to buy alcohol.
