Garage fire

NEW LONDON -- New London firefighters battled a garage fire that spread to an adjoining wooded area at 2:19 p.m. Friday on the 6600 block of 150th Avenue Northeast, New London.

A neighbor reported that a garage was on fire and in a second call reported that it had spread to the wooded area. The New London firefighters were joined by a Spicer tanker unit in battling the fire.

Pull tabs, scratch-off games recovered

WILLMAR -- A property owner on Friday afternoon found hundreds of Minnesota State Lottery scratch-off games and pull tabs tossed near a burn pit on property near the intersection of 25th Street Northwest and Horizon Hills Road. There have been thefts of scratch-off and pull-tab games reported from businesses in Meeker County and Renville County in the last two months.

Car strikes pole

WILLMAR -- Willmar Municipal Utilities workers were called after a 1998 Oldsmobile struck a utility pole at 12:56 p.m. Saturday on the 800 block of Second Street Southeast in Willmar.

The car struck the pole and caused damage to a fence, trees and landscaping at a neighboring residence as well.

It was not known if the 20-year-old male driver was injured in the collision.

Assaults

WILLMAR -- A second-degree assault charge is pending against a 26-year-old man after a domestic incident at 12:41 p.m. Sunday on the 200 block of Third Street Northeast, Pennock.

ATWATER -- A 22-year-old man faces possible assault charges after an incident at 5:53 a.m. Sunday in Atwater.

Kandiyohi County sheriff's deputies responded to a report of an assault and individuals who were fleeing Atwater on U.S. Highway 12 in a van. Officers stopped the van outside of town and placed an adult driver under arrest while issuing citations for underage consumption to two male and three female passengers in the vehicle.

Theft

NEW LONDON -- A kayak valued at $699 was reported stolen Sunday from a property on the 5110 block of 132nd Avenue Northeast, New London, along Nest Lake.

Vehicle tampering

WILLMAR -- Police officers in Willmar are investigating reports of six vehicles being tampered with and personal goods inside of them stolen around 3:26 a.m. on Sunday on the 600 block of Second Street Southwest in Willmar. Items such as CDs and phone chargers were among the goods taken.

RAYMOND -- The owner of a vehicle in Raymond reported $500 worth of damage when someone broke into it sometime early Sunday morning while it was parked on the 100 block of West Third Avenue in Raymond.

Vehicles recovered

PENNOCK -- A 1996 Dodge Caravan that had been reported stolen was recovered early Sunday morning when it was found in a cornfield along County Road 1 near Pennock. A window had been smashed out and it appeared as if someone had been living in the vehicle.

NEW LONDON -- Sheriff's officers also were called when a Ford Mustang was discovered abandoned Saturday morning at a commercial property on the 7600 of South Highway 71, New London.

Burglaries

WILLMAR -- A laptop computer and HP Entertainment Series were stolen in a burglary of a residence on the 300 block of Northeast High Avenue, Willmar, its owner reported Friday evening.

PENNOCK -- Kandiyohi County sheriff's officers are investigating a break-in to an office on the 65000 block of 45th Avenue Northwest, Pennock, that was discovered Sunday morning. Miscellaneous items in the office were stolen.

Tires slashed

WILLMAR -- A resident on Sunday afternoon found two tires slashed on a Ford pickup parked in the driveway of his home on the 300 block of 23rd Street Southeast, Willmar.
