Teens relieved of water balloons, tomatoes, fish and beer in New London

NEW LONDON -- Kandiyohi County sheriff's deputies seized two coolers, one containing water balloons, tomatoes and dead fish and another containing beer, around 10:35 p.m. Monday along County Road 9 near Second Avenue in New London.

The driver of the vehicle, a 19-year-old male from New London, was cited for failure to signal a turn. A passenger, a 16-year-old male also from New London, was cited for littering. Deputies determined that neither of the boys had been drinking at the time.

The confiscation and citations were issued after a citizen reported their vehicle had been struck by eggs and tomatoes.

Deputies also confiscated items from four vehicles located around 10 p.m. Monday evening along Rambow Parkway and found vehicles dusted with flour and other substances at one of the boat access points on Nest Lake.

Teens arrested after shoplifting incident

WILLMAR -- A 14-year-old Windom female and a 17-year-old Rochester male were arrested after Willmar police were called around 7:15 p.m. Monday regarding two juvenile female shoplifters being uncooperative at Cub Foods.

Responding officers discovered that the teens were allegedly in possession of a stolen vehicle from Cottonwood County, that the 14-year-old was a runaway and that the 17-year-old was wanted on a warrant from Mower County.

Two other teens, a 14-year-old female and a 16-year-old male from Willmar, were also involved in the incident. The teens who were arrested were taken to Prairie Lakes Youth Programs. The 14-year-old girl from Willmar was cited for shoplifting and liability for crimes of another and the 16-year-old boy was sent home to a parent.

Yellow Medicine County Sheriff seeks info on Porter burglary

GRANITE FALLS -- The Yellow Medicine County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help with any information regarding a private residence burglary that happened Sept. 1 in Porter. Items taken were hundreds of necklaces, rings, earrings and other items.

Theft

WILLMAR -- The theft of a briefcase, containing cash and credit cards, was reported around 2 p.m. Monday along the 300 block of Fourth Street Southwest.

SPICER -- The theft of a golf cart, and damage to the vehicle, was reported around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday along North Shore Drive. It appeared someone had taken the cart for a ride in a field.

Burglary

WILLMAR -- A home burglary and theft of a television and speaker were reported around 4 p.m. Monday along the 400 block of 30th Street Northwest.

District Court

Kandiyohi County

- Richard Michael Carl Houske, 23, of Willmar, pleaded guilty Monday to a felony charge of fifth-degree drug sale.

He will be sentenced Nov. 8.

The charge was filed after he sold 7.4 grams of marijuana to a confidential informant who then delivered a bag containing a green leafy substance to CEE-VI drug enforcement agents. The drug sale happened March 4 at Houske's Willmar residence.
