Police cite 24 for underage drinking
WILLMAR -- Willmar Police issued 24 underage consumption citations and two 20-year-old renters were issued citations under the City of Willmar's social host ordinance after officers investigated a large underage party Wednesday night on Willmar's east side.
Sgt. Michael Markkanen said police were called at approximately 11:40 p.m. Wednesday and found a house party with approximately 70 young adults in the 300 block of Becker Avenue Southeast.
Police determined that many of the people at the party were drinking, that there was underage drinking occurring, and issued the citations.
Assault under investigation
RAYMOND -- A 41-year-old man reported he'd been assaulted by three men around 12:10 a.m. Thursday at a home in Raymond. The case remains under investigation and does not appear to be connected to recent nighttime home burglaries.
Teens get talking-to after paintball shots, assault
WILLMAR -- A group of teens got a talking-to by a Willmar Police officer and their parents were notified of their activity after a paintball incident and assault were reported around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday. A 17-year-old Willmar male reported he'd been shot at by two males with a paintball gun. The teen took the paintball gun away from the two individuals along the 1800 block of 19th Avenue Southwest. During that incident, an assault occurred and someone kicked out a car window. The parents wanted no charges against the teens and said they'd work out an agreement amongst themselves regarding the window.
SPICER -- A 46-year-old Willmar man was arrested on charges of theft and driving after suspension around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. The incident began when the man allegedly stole gas from Jahnke Foods, 375 S. Highway 23 in Spicer. He was located and arrested by a State Patrol officer north of New London. An investigation continues to determine if electronic items, tools and sporting goods located in the vehicle were stolen.
WILLMAR -- A Willmar woman was cited for shoplifting around 4:45 p.m. Wednesday at Cub Foods, 2201 First St. S. after she allegedly attempted to leave the store with $104 worth of groceries.
WILLMAR -- A damaged screen on a door was reported around 1 p.m. Wednesday along the 1200 block of 29th Street Northwest.
