No one injured in milk truck-school bus crash

FARMING TOWNSHIP -- No one was injured when a milk truck driven by a Pennock man slid into a school bus shortly before 7 a.m. Wednesday in rural Stearns County.

The Richmond Bus Service bus with seven children on board, driven by Sally Jaeger, 53, of Richmond, was stopped and facing south at 26433 223rd Ave. to pick up a child, according to a news release from the Stearns County Sheriff's Office.

The truck, driven by Darren Swart, 36, of Pennock, was moving north heading for the same address. Swart tried to slow and stop the truck, which was loaded with 19,400 gallons of milk, but was unable to on the icy roads, according to the release.

The truck struck the bus and pushed it backward about 10 feet. The students were taken to school on a different bus and families were notified.

Sheriff's deputies and the State Patrol responded to the crash, which is still under investigation, according to the release.
