Arrests

WILLMAR -- A 26-year-old Willmar man was arrested at about 1 a.m. Friday at the intersection of Highway 12 and Highway 23/71 bypass. Charges of third-degree driving while impaired and refusal to test are pending.

WILLMAR -- A 21-year-old man from Willmar was arrested at about 1:45 a.m. Friday after he was seen urinating in the parking lot in front of the Green Mill Restaurant on U.S. Highway 12 East. The man was charged with indecent exposure.

WILLMAR -- Two men were arrested at about 1:30 a.m. Friday after a traffic stop in Willmar. A 29-year-old man from Atwater was charged with giving a false name to a peace officer. A 22-year-old man from Litchfield was charged with fourth-degree driving while impaired, speeding and having a blood alcohol reading of .08 or more within two hours of driving.

- Hawo Mohamed Ali, 22, of Willmar pleaded guilty Friday to a gross misdemeanor charge of wrongfully obtaining assistance - theft - by false statements, concealment and impersonation. The criminal complaint said the defendant received $9,803 in public assistance benefits from March 2008 through September 2009.

Seven felony charges of public assistance - food stamp - food support-declaration requirement were dismissed. Judge Donald Spilseth stayed a 364-day sentence in the Kandiyohi County Jail, ordered payment of an $800 fine plus $10 law library fee and $72 surcharge, and ordered Ali to perform 120 hours of community service work for which she may pay the fines.

The defendant was placed on supervised probation for one year, was ordered to cooperate with the federal Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and was ordered to pay $6,951 in restitution together with Abdullahi Mohamed Ali.

- Abdullahi Mohamed Ali, 24, of Willmar pleaded guilty Friday to a gross misdemeanor charge of wrongfully obtaining assistant - theft - by false statements, concealment and impersonation. The defendant was charged with wrongfully obtaining assistance from March 2008 through September 2009. Judge Donald Spilseth stayed a 364-day sentence in the Kandiyohi County Jail, ordered payment of $887 in fine and fees, and placed Ali on one year of supervised probation. Ali was ordered to perform 120 hours of community service work, ordered to cooperate with the federal Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and ordered to pay $6,951 in restitution together with Hawo Mohamed Ali.
