District Court

Kandiyohi County

- Sharon Marie Sorto, 35, of Willmar made an initial appearance Friday on three drug-related felony charges. The charges stem from a drug investigation by Willmar police that began in early March.

She was taken into custody after a search warrant was executed on March 16 at a residence in the 800 block of 13th Street Southwest. Judge Donald Spilseth set with unconditional release bail at $65,000 and conditional release at $4,000.

Sorto is charged with second-degree sale of 3.9 grams of methamphetamine on March 10; first-degree possession with intent to sell 10 or more grams of methamphetamine; and second-degree possession of 6 or more grams of methamphetamine.

She was ordered to cooperate and continue counseling treatment recommendations at Woodland Centers in Willmar. Another hearing is scheduled for March 28.

- Judge Donald Spilseth set unconditional release bail at $100,000 and conditional release at $80,000 for Angel Cesar Garcia, 33, of Willmar after the defendant appeared Friday on three felony charges related to the Willmar Police Department drug investigation of Sharon Sorto.

Garcia is charged with second-degree aiding and abetting the sale of 3.9 grams of methamphetamine; first-degree possession with intent to sell 10 grams of methamphetamine; and second-degree possession of 6 or more grams of methamphetamine.

The criminal complaint says Garcia had a stay of adjudication of a fifth-degree controlled substance crime from July 2010. A stay of adjudication would remove a crime from a person's record if all sentencing conditions are fulfilled.
