- Daric Dennis Rosenau, 27, of Atwater, pleaded not guilty Thursday to a felony charge of fifth-degree drug possession and to misdemeanor charges for possession of marijuana, pharmacy drugs and drug paraphernalia.
Unconditional bail was set at $80,000 with conditional release at $50,000.
The complaint states that a Willmar police officer knew that two warrants existed for Rosenau's arrest around 10 a.m. Feb. 17 when the officer observed Rosenau driving on U.S. Highway 12 East in Willmar The officer approached Rosenau after he exited his car near a restaurant and told him he was under arrest. During a patdown, the officer allegedly seized a black bag containing Ambien and Vicodin prescribed for others, a container holding about 2 grams of what was believed to be marijuana and a pipe.
The officer was aware Rosenau had prior fifth-degree substance possession charges in other counties and the warrants were issued for his arrest in McLeod and Sibley counties.
- Faustino Salinas Jr., 31, of Sacred Heart, was arraigned Friday on felony charges of fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle and escaping from custody, and a gross misdemeanor charge of obstructing the legal challenge.
Bail was set at $15,000.
The complaint states that Salinas was walking into a gas station March 23 on County Road 5 in Willmar when a Kandiyohi County sheriff's deputy ordered him to stop and get on his knees. The officer told him that he was under arrest based on a warrant from Renville County for felony domestic assault charges.
After getting on his knees, Salinas allegedly stood up, went to his vehicle and told the officer to shoot him "if he wanted'' while ignoring the officer's commands to stop.
Salinas then drove from the scene. The deputy was joined by another officer and a short pursuit occurred on County Road 5 to south of U.S. Highway 12. The two squad cars were used to pin Salinas' vehicle. Salinas then allegedly refused to exit the vehicle, forcing the officer to break the driver's side window. Salinas was then arrested.
- Brandon Dan Thorson, 21, of New London, made his first appearance Thursday on felony charges of theft and two counts of property damage.
Bail was set at $10,000.
The complaint states that Thorson and two others took an EZ-Go Golf Cart during the night hours of Aug. 7-8. The 1995 model cart was parked on a driveway west of state Highway 9 near New London.
Thorson allegedly used the cart for a joy ride. It was recovered Aug. 8 in a wildlife management area north of New London, stuck in mud and water. The cart was totaled by the owner's insurance company for $1,600.
