Five departments respond to fire at elevator in Porter

PORTER -- Five fire departments responded to a fire that destroyed a grain elevator in the community of Porter in the western portion of Yellow Medicine County.

The fire was discovered around 6:30 a.m. Sunday. It destroyed a grain elevator built in the 1930s and an attached feed mill.

The Porter Fire Department was joined by firefighters from the Canby, Taunton, St. Leo and Marshall departments.

Domestic incidents

WILLMAR -- Nine officers responded to a domestic disturbance reported at 2:44 a.m. Saturday on the 5000 block of Lawler Beach Road Northeast, Willmar.

The Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Office arrested a 21-year-old man for the disturbance.

Willmar police also responded to a domestic incident at 7:19 p.m. on Saturday at a residence on the 300 block of Seventh Street Northwest in Willmar. A 29-year-old female was charged.

Police execute search warrant

WILLMAR -- A man on probation for conviction of possessing child pornography may be facing charges again. Willmar police officers executed a search warrant and seized the suspect's computer during a search of the man's apartment on Saturday on the 1600 block of Seventh Avenue Southeast.

Caller says he was kidnapped

RAYMOND -- A 30-year-old man called the Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Office at 12:47 a.m. Saturday to report he had been taken by others against his will and dropped off at the Chippewa County line on Minnesota Highway 23. The matter remains under investigation.

One injured in mishap

WILLMAR -- One person was transported for non-life-threatening injuries in an accident at 12:15 p.m. Sunday on South First Street at the intersection with Kandiyohi Avenue. No other information was available at press time.

False alarms

WILLMAR -- A young child pulled a fire alarm at 12:07 p.m. Sunday at the Evangelical Free Church, 1301 19th Ave.

A burglary alarm at 1:11 a.m. Saturday summoned Willmar police officers who conducted a search of the Running's store at 3031 First Street South. No sign of a burglary was found.
