Open burning permits not valid during shutdown
WILLMAR -- All open burning permits are not valid during the state government shutdown.
According to a news release from Kandiyohi County Sheriff Dan Hartog, Kandiyohi County is one of the counties in the state that uses the state's electronic open burning permit system.
With the state shutdown, all open burning permits that were issued are no longer valid.
The only open burning that is allowed during the shutdown are campfires and charcoal and gas grills.
When the shutdown is over and the state is operating again, the open burning system will be back online.
Three arrested for shoplifting, face felony
WILLMAR -- Three women, ages 62, 37 and 42, were arrested around 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Kandi Mall, 1605 First St. S. The arrests came after the woman allegedly stole more than $1,500 in merchandise from Herbergers.
WILLMAR -- The theft of tools was reported around 7:15 a.m. Friday along the 3200 block of 37th Avenue Northwest.
NEW LONDON -- A case of identity theft was reported around 8:30 a.m. Friday along First Avenue.
WILLMAR -- The Willmar Fire Department was called around 12:08 p.m. Friday to 1402 Willmar Avenue S.W. for smoke in a home. An electric fan motor was suspected as the cause of the smoke.
- Andrea Dawn Rasmussen, 45, of Willmar, made her first appearance Thursday on felony second- and third-degree drug sale charges for her role in selling meth and cocaine to a CEE-VI Drug Task Force informant in October.
She was released on her personal recognizance and ordered to have no contact with her co-defendant, Shane Thomas Cain, 40, of Wadena. Her next appearance is July 11.
Cain faces three felony charges of second- and third-degree drug sales and for selling simulated drugs. His first appearance is Thursday.
According to the complaint, the informant purchased 3.5 grams of cocaine and a small amount of methamphetamine from Cain and Rasmussen on Oct. 27, 2010 at a hotel in Willmar.
Cain has a prior conviction for drug sales in 2004.
