WILLMAR -- Three people were arrested and are in custody at the Kandiyohi County Jail after a pursuit by Willmar Police officers and Kandiyohi County Sheriff's deputies around 3:45 a.m. Tuesday in Willmar.

According to Police Capt. Jim Felt, an officer attempted to stop a vehicle for speeding and a loud muffler near First Street and Willmar Avenue. The vehicle, a 1995 Saturn, immediately fled going south on First Street to 19th Avenue, west on 19th Avenue to Fifth Street and then north to 15th Avenue Southwest. The driver was identified as Ricardo Daniel Gomez, 35, of Willmar. Charges against him include fleeing in a motor vehicle, fleeing on foot, driving after cancellation, reckless driving, speeding and loud muffler. Gomez is also wanted on a Department of Corrections warrant for a second-drug controlled substance crime.

District Court

Kandiyohi County

- Frank James Corley, 29, of Willmar, pleaded guilty Tuesday to misdemeanor charges of domestic assault and driving after suspension.

As part of a plea agreement, a felony charge of domestic assault by strangulation will be dismissed. He will be sentenced April 30.

The charges were filed after Kandiyohi County Sheriff's deputies were called to a rural Willmar address around 6:30 p.m. Dec. 11 to a domestic incident. The caller reported that the suspect, Corley, was driving a white Pontiac. Deputies and a Willmar Police officer stopped the vehicle near the Willmar Regional Treatment Center and took Corley into custody.

At the residence, a woman reported that she'd recently broken off a relationship with Corley and that he'd come to the home and punched and choked her during an argument that turned into a physical altercation.
