Theft

WILLMAR -- An employee allegedly was caught stealing hydrocodone from the Prescription Center in Willmar. According to preliminary police reports, the theft was reported Thursday afternoon. It's unknown if this was an isolated incident or if prior thefts had taken place. The employee was fired and the information was forwarded to the CEE-VI Drug Task Force.

WILLMAR -- An iPod Touch and a wallet containing a driver's license and credit cards was reported stolen at 8 a.m. Friday from the 800 block of Sixth Street Southeast. The theft occurred sometime between 10:30 p.m. on Thursday and 7 a.m. Friday.

n Danielle Jo Barrett, 21, of Raymond, made her first appearance Thursday on a felony charge of theft for allegedly taking $1,712 in cash from Cub Foods in Willmar.

Unconditional bail was set at $10,000. Her next appearance is March 12.

According to the complaint, a store loss prevention officer contacted Willmar police on Jan. 12 regarding an employee theft. The loss prevention officer reported that the store began experiencing large shortages of cash from the tills in November. Losses of $500 and $225 were documented on two days in December when Barrett worked in the bookkeeping office. A hidden camera was set up in the office and allegedly showed Barrett taking $566.39 on Jan. 7.

On Jan. 12, the loss prevention officer was monitoring Barrett in the office and saw her conceal cash. When confronted, she produced five $100 bills, a $10 bill and two $1 bills from her purse.

n Stephen Robert Swenson, 43, of Pennock, made his first appearance Thursday on a felony charge of fifth-degree drug possession for methamphetamine found in his residence by CEE-VI Drug Task force agents and Kandiyohi County sheriff's deputies on Feb. 17.

Unconditional bail was set at $10,000. His next appearance is March 12. He also faces a petty misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Two other men were also charged in the case. Eric John Lehman, 43, of Pennock, made his first appearance on Feb. 24. His next appearance is May 10. Brett Leslie Delp, 44, of Willmar, is scheduled for his first appearance on March 15.

According to the complaint, the agents and deputies found Delp in the home and detained him while they searched the residence. They located paraphernalia with methamphetamine residence including snort tubs, pipes and a water bong.

When Delp was arrested, officers located 1.9 grams of meth and a pipe on his person. He claimed someone planted the drugs on him.

The search revealed numerous items of paraphernalia in the living areas and bedrooms of the home, 15 pills of methylphenidate, a Schedule II narcotic, and residency documents for Swenson and Lehman. The bong water weighed in at 307.8 grams.

Swenson has two prior drug convictions, in April 2002 and November 2002.
