n A Willmar man made his first appearance before a judge Wednesday on multiple drug charges stemming from an investigation by the CEE-VI gang and drug task force.

Jesus Sanchez III, 27, is charged with two counts of fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance and one count each of fifth-degree sale of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was released on his own recognizance pending his next court appearance.

Acting on a tip that drugs allegedly were being sold from an apartment in the 1300 block of Gorton Avenue Northwest, members of the drug task force conducted a garbage collection March 30 outside the residence. Among the items they found were numerous plastic bags that field-tested positive for the presence of marijuana and cocaine.

The evidence was brought before a judge and a warrant was signed Tuesday to conduct a search of the apartment.

According to court records, law enforcement officers seized numerous items of contraband from Sanchez's residence, including approximately 170 grams of marijuana, marijuana pipes, rolling papers, several glass jars containing marijuana joints and $952 in cash.

n Scott Blokzyl, 40, of Elk River, was sentenced Tuesday to 33 days in jail for stealing a car from a relative's garage in Spicer last August.

Judge Randall Slieter gave him credit for time already served. He also placed Blozyl on supervised probation for five years, imposed $1,090 in fees and fines and ordered him to write a letter of apology to the victims. Blokzyl may perform community service to help pay off the fines.

The car was stolen Aug. 23 from a home on South Lake Street in Spicer while the owner was inside the house unloading groceries. It was recovered the next day in Big Lake by the Big Lake Police Department. Officers arrested Blokzyl as the suspect.
