Wind blows over truck hauling manufactured home west of Litchfield

LITCHFIELD -- No one was injured but a manufactured home was a total loss in a property damage accident just before 11 a.m. Thursday along U.S. Highway 12 west of Litchfield.

According to the Meeker County Sheriff's office, deputies and the State Patrol responded to the crash a half mile west of County Road 31. A 1993 Ford semi, driven by Cody Allen Nelson, 39, of Sioux Falls, S.D., was hauling a manufactured home for Centennial Homes, also of Sioux Falls, when the wind forced the home and the semi trailer over into the west ditch. The semi tractor cab was parked in the westbound lane of traffic.

Deputies directed traffic around the incident while the State Patrol wrote the report.

Watkins man dies in motorcycle crash

LITCHFIELD -- A man from rural Watkins died Friday when his motorcycle apparently went off the road and into the edge of a farm field in Meeker County.

The Meeker County Sheriff's Office identified him as John Dietman, 54. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash was reported at 2:12 p.m. Friday near the 36000 block of 675th Street.

The Meeker County Sheriff's Office, Minnesota State Patrol, Eden Valley Police Department and Watkins Ambulance all responded to the scene. The crash remains under investigation by the Sheriff's Office, with assistance from the State Patrol.
