Armed man robs convenience store

WILLMAR -- A robber wearing a ski mask showed a knife and demanded money from a clerk 3:44 a.m. Wednesday at the Holiday Station Store on the 800 block of Litchfield Avenue Southwest in Willmar.

The clerk handed over the small amount of cash that was in the till, according to information from the Willmar Police Department. No one was injured and no other persons were believed to be in the store at the time.

The robber is described as a black male, age unknown. He was wearing a red ski mask, hooded sweatshirt and black shorts.

Police are planning to release video surveillance tape of the suspect to seek the public's help in identifying him. The matter is under active investigation.

tire hits house

RAYMOND -- A tire and rim came off a semi-trailer and struck a house at 11:41 a.m. Wednesday on the 300 block of Cofield Street South in Raymond, the main intersection in the community. There was no damage apparent to the exterior of the home. The homeowner was not at home when the incident occurred.

The truck driver was bound for Marshall on state Highway 23 and asked permission to chain the trailer and proceed, but was advised by the Minnesota State Patrol not to do so. The trailer was left at a repair shop and the homeowner contacted to check on the interior of the home.

Theft

ATWATER -- Three sections of 40-foot long irrigation pipe were reported stolen at 10:59 a.m. Wednesday from a property near the intersection of 175th Street Northeast and 138th Avenue Northeast, Atwater.

A vehicle described as either a green Bonneville or Park Avenue was believed to have been used in the heist.

Good deed punished by theft

ATWATER -- A youth who helped his grandmother Tuesday clean the community center in Atwater had his bicycle stolen.

The youth reported that he rode his bicycle to the center and parked it in front of the building on the 100 block of Second Street North. After he helped clean the center, his grandmother gave him a ride home in an air conditioned vehicle. When he realized he had left his bicycle in front of the center, they returned to find the bicycle was gone.

It is described as a 21-speed Hyper Bike, gray and black, with front shocks.

Kandiyohi County

n Cory John Christensen, 25, of St. Cloud, formerly of Spicer and Paynesville, appeared in district court Wednesday in Willmar after being apprehended for violating terms of his probation.

The court ordered that he be held in jail until a July 25 court appearance.

Christensen had been convicted for a felony, fifth degree drug possession charge on Nov. 22, 2010. Willmar Police officers charged him after he and another man were seen with a large pile of marijuana on a kitchen table during an incident Oct. 25, 2010 at an apartment on the 1400 block of Fifth Street Southwest in Willmar. Police confiscated more than 100 grams of marijuana, which Christensen allegedly admitted was his.

n Ryan Pederson, 22, of Willmar, entered a guilty plea Wednesday to a charge of criminal sexual conduct in the third degree in district court in Willmar.

The court ordered a pre-sentence investigation.

He was charged Feb. 5 for allegedly having sexual contact with a 14-year-old girl during the night of Feb. 4.

According to the complaint, he had flirted with the girl on the Internet for a period of time. Subsequently, a friend drove him to her home in a Twin Cities suburb and they returned to Willmar. The complaint alleges that the victim's mother and father had contacted the defendant in different manners prior to the incident and told him she was 14 years-old. On the night of the incident, the mother said she had also sent text messages to the defendant again saying her daughter was 14 years old.
