Kandiyohi, Yellow Medicine countiesenact burning ban
GRANITE FALLS -- The sheriffs of Kandiyohi and Yellow Medicine counties have issued burning bans for their respective counties, effective Wednesday.
Both Dan Hartog and Bill Flaten stated that the bans will be lifted when conditions change. Hartog cited high winds and dry conditions.
The National Weather Service has issued a fire weather watch and hazardous weather outlook for southwestern Minnesota counties.
Girl shot with BB gun
WILLMAR -- Police took a report of a 10-year-old girl who had been shot with a BB gun around 11:20 p.m. Tuesday. The caller reported that the incident happened around 7 p.m. Monday at Regency Estates East, 1400 Lakeland Drive N.E.
SPICER -- A gas drive-off theft was reported around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday from Jahnke Foods, 375 Highway 23. The incident happened Tuesday evening and involved the theft of $35.68 in fuel.
WILLMAR -- An assault was reported around 11:55 p.m. Tuesday at the Kandiyohi County Jail, 2201 23rd ST. N.E.
WILLMAR -- A vehicle that had been "keyed" was reported around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday along the 1600 block of Highway 12 East.
SPICER -- A 23-year-old Spicer man was arrested for driving while impaired around 12:10 a.m. Wednesday along Green Lake Boulevard.
The arrest came after a citizen made a 911 call that someone had punched their fist through a window and needed a ride to the hospital.
Dispatch called the person back and found out that the person needing treatment had left the location in a private car.
