State Patrol investigating crash south of Litchfield

LITCHFIELD — The State Patrol is investigating a two-vehicle injury crash reported around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday south of Litchfield.

According to the Meeker County Sheriff ’s Office, the crash was reported via 911 call and deputies, the State Patrol, Cross Ambulance, Litchfield rescue and fire crews were dispatched to the intersection of state Highway 22 and 230th Street, Litchfield Township.

Richard Boyer, 78, of rural Litchfield, was driving a 1991 Ford F-150, owned by the city of Litchfield, southbound on Highway 22 and attempted to make a right turn onto 230th Street. Rita Ninneman, 62, of Prinsburg, was driving a 2003 Chrysler Town and Country van and attempted to pass Boyer on the right side of the road, and their vehicles collided.

Boyer was transported by ambulance to the Meeker Memorial Hospital in Litchfield for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Four hurt in rollover crash north of Madison

MADISON — Four people were taken to Madison Hospital for treatment of injuries suffered in a onevehicle rollover crash reported around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday north of Madison.

According to the State Patrol, Katrina R. Stordahl, 17, of West Fargo, N.D., was driving a 1999 Oldsmobile northbound on U.S. Highway 75 near the intersection with County Road 28. She failed to negotiate the curve and the vehicle left the roadway and rolled several times, landing on its roof in a pond.

Her passengers, Russell L. Nelson, 22, of Audubon, Gabriel Z. Fuller, 15, of Duluth, and Dellrae M. Pelfrey, 16, suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Stordahl’s injuries also were categorized as non-lifethreatening.

Also responding to the rollover accident were the Lac qui Parle County Sheriff ’s Office and the Madison Ambulance. The crash remains under investigation.

Kandiyohi County

• Shane Mitchell Broten, 43, of Willmar, pleaded guilty and was sentenced Wednesday on a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct.

As part of a plea agreement, the charge was reduced from a felony for domestic assault and another felony for domestic assault was dismissed.

He was sentenced to 90 days in jail, with credit for 60 days already served and ordered to pay a $50 fine.

The charges were filed after May 11, when Kandiyohi County sheriff ’s deputies were called to a home along U.S. Highway 71 South on a domestic assault report. A woman there reported that Broten had been drinking and had kicked the woman and a 10-year-old girl.

Broten had two prior convictions for domestic assault, in March 2011, and for violating an order for protection in July 2012.

• Azeneth Hernandez, 18, of Willmar, made her first appearance Wednesday on a felony charge of first-degree criminal damage to property for her role in damaging an ex-boyfriend’s vehicle.

She was released on her personal recognizance. Her next appearance is Aug. 19.

According to the complaint, a Willmar man reported to police on June 6 that his vehicle had been damaged while it was parked in the Cash Wise Foods parking lot. Someone had used a key to gouge the paint. The man said a similar incident had happened a week earlier at the Kandi Mall. The man suspected Hernandez, whom he had previously dated.

Hernandez was interviewed and allegedly admitted to damaging the car with a friend at both the grocery store and the mall. The friend was interviewed and also admitted to the damage.

The repair estimate was $1,560.
