Woman in Christmas Day accident dies of injuries
WATSON — A 62-year-old woman involved in a two-vehicle crash on Christmas day near Watson has died.
Janet Scoblic, 62, of Eagan, and formerly of Big Stone City, S.D., died on Thursday, the Minnesota State Patrol reported.
She was the driver of a 2006 Saturn Vue that collided with a 2000 Jeep Cherokee driven by Levie Windingstad, 26, of Morris around 10:55 a.m. on Highway 7/59, south of Watson.
The patrol reported that Scoblic crossed the center line, Windingstad swerved to avoid Scoblic and then Scoblic swerved back into Windingstad.
Scoblic was transported to the Chippewa County-Montevideo Hospital. Windingstad and his passenger, David Windingstad, 55, of Morris, were also treated at the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
Two injured in accident on state Highway 24 in Meeker County
LITCHFIELD — Two people were transported Thursday to the Meeker Memorial Hospital after their vehicles stuck each other on Minnesota Highway 24, east of Meeker County Road 34 at 9:41 p.m., according to the Meeker County Sheriff’s Department.
Calvin Dollerschell, 17, of rural Litchfield, and Brittney Berning, 19, of Litchfield, were transported for unspecified injuries and their vehicles were severely damaged.
Dollerschell was driving east on Highway 24 in a white, 1998 Chrysler mini-van and crossed into the westbound lane. His vehicle struck a silver, 2006 Ford Focus driven by Berning.
This incident is under investigation by the Minnesota State Patrol.
The Meeker County Sheriff’s Office, Litchfield Fire Department, Rescue and Gold Cross Ambulance also responded to the accident.
Crash blocks highway in Dassel
LITCHFIELD — A two-vehicle accident on U.S. Highway 12 in Dassel blocked traffic and injured one of the drivers around 3 p.m. Thursday, according to the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office.
Robert Olander, 37, of Rochester, was traveling east on Highway 12 in a 2013 Chevrolet Equinox. As he slowed for traffic, his Equinox was struck from the rear by a 2004 Chevrolet Impala driven by Bradley Ward, 24, of Minneapolis.
The impact pushed the Equinox across the westbound traffic lane of Highway 12 and into the ditch along the north side of the highway.
Olander reported minor neck pain and was evaluated by the Dassel Rescue unit, but declined medical transport.
The State Patrol cited Ward for inattentive driving.
Snow, icy roads lead to fender benders
WILLMAR — Willmar police and Kandiyohi County sheriff’s officers responded to one dozen reports of minor property damage accidents from the start of the snowfall late Thursday morning to noon on Friday.
No injuries were reported, and the crashes varied from fender-benders, a hit-and-run involving a parked vehicle, to a vehicle and deer collision.
Officers also assisted at six different sites during the time frame where vehicles went into ditches or snow banks.
There were also several reports of abandoned vehicles.
Juveniles tossing objects at cars
WILLMAR — Willmar police are continuing to receive reports that juveniles are tossing objects at vehicles in the area of the 500 block of Litchfield Avenue Southeast. A motorist reported no damage to a vehicle that was struck by something tossed at it shortly after 7 p.m. Thursday.
