Crash injures two in Renville County
According to the Renville County Sheriff’s Office, Karon Kay Gerdes, 67, of Kerkhoven, was injured when the 2001 Chevy Trailblazer she was driving collided with a 2003 Dodge pickup, driven by Michael Allen Voelz, 35, of Renville.
The accident was reported at around 5:30 p.m. at the intersection of Renville County Road 21 and 870th Avenue, about four miles north of Renville.
The preliminary report indicates Gerdes was traveling north on Renville County Road 21 and Voelz was traveling east on 870th Avenue.
The impact caused Gerdes’ vehicle to enter the ditch and roll.
Gerdes was transported by the Renville Ambulance Service to the Renville County Hospital and Clinics in Olivia while her minor grandson, whose name was not released, was transported by Olivia Ambulance to the same hospital.
Gerdes was later airlifted by North Memorial Aircare to the Hennepin County Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
Voelz was not injured during the accident.
All three individuals involved in the accident were wearing seatbelts.
Agencies assisting with the accident were the Renville Police Department, Sacred Heart Police Department, Minnesota State Patrol, Renville Ambulance Service, Renville Fire and Rescue, Olivia Ambulance Service and North Memorial Aircare.
The Renville County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the accident.
WILLMAR — An individual was cited for shoplifting from Walmart around 2 p.m. Monday.
WILLMAR — The theft of a black wallet from a vehicle was reported at 2:15 p.m. Monday along the 500 block of Seventh Street Northwest.
WILLMAR — A business along the 1300 block of First Street South reported that an individual had stolen $49.31 worth of bird supplies. The incident was reported at 7:50 p.m. Monday.
WILLMAR — A donation box for the Humane Society of Kandiyohi and Meeker Counties was reported stolen around 11:20 a.m. Tuesday along the 1200 block of First Street South. The theft reportedly happened around 8:45 p.m. Jan. 24. The dollar amount stolen was unknown.
WILLMAR — An individual reported that their tires had been slashed along the 100 block of Willmar Avenue Southwest. The incident was reported at 4 p.m. Monday.
WILLMAR — An assault was reported around 9:30 p.m. Monday along the 500 block of 19th Avenue Southeast.
