Abandoned dogs

WILLMAR -- A call to police Friday night alerted authorities to two dogs that were not being cared for because their owner is in jail. According to a preliminary report, a relative of the jailed man had been taking care of the dogs until Friday. A neighbor called out of concern for the animals.

Authorities were allowing the inmate to make calls to find someone to care for the dogs. If no one was found, the Humane Society was to be notified.

Child left

WILLMAR -- Employees at Grizzly's called police at 5:13 p.m. Saturday saying that a family had left a child, about 4 or 5 years old, behind. The child was in a party of three adults and about six kids, according to the report. A woman returned 25 minutes later and picked up the child.

Theft

BELGRADE -- The theft of a zebra mailbox, valued at $200, was reported at 1:45 p.m. Friday in the 5000 block of 255th Avenue Northeast.

WILLMAR -- Two men were seen leaving Cub Foods with a cart full of baby formula without paying for the items, which were valued at $851.

SPICER -- The theft of a money bag was reported at 12:12 p.m. Saturday at Green Lake Liquor.

WILLMAR -- Two 18-year-old men, who have past records for theft, were cited for theft and shoplifting Sunday at Cash Wise.

Assault

WILLMAR -- A woman was taken to Rice Memorial Hospital with injuries she incurred Friday in a domestic assault. The woman, who had a bloodied face, went to a neighbor's house around 10 p.m. and asked that 911 be called. The woman was taken to the hospital by a relative. A 25-year-old male suspect was identified.

WILLMAR -- A man told police he was assaulted by two other men at 5:32 p.m. Saturday in the 500 block of Lakeland Drive Southeast.

Vandalism

WILLMAR -- A vehicle was shot at with a BB or pellet gun, causing damage to the windshield. The incident was reported at 1:45 p.m. Friday at the Eagles Club.

WILLMAR -- A woman was arrested at 11 p.m. Friday on multiple drunken driving charges, first-degree criminal damage to property and for failing to yield to an emergency vehicle after she was seen ramming a vehicle with her own car in the 1000 block of Par Lane Southeast.

WILLMAR -- The windshield and mirror from a vehicle were reported damaged at 2:48 p.m. Sunday in the 900 block of 20th Avenue Southeast.

Fire

NEW LONDON -- The New London Fire Department responded to a shed fire at 6:30 p.m. Saturday in the 24000 block of U.S. Highway 71 Northeast. The Belgrade Fire Department provided mutual assistance.
