Two injured in one-vehicle
rollover crash north of Olivia
OLIVIA — Two men were injured Tuesday afternoon after a one-vehicle crash north of Olivia.
According to a news release from the Renville County Sheriff’s Office, Jonathan Gregory Kaufenberg, 22, of Olivia, was traveling northbound on Renville County Road 14 in a 1995 Chevy Blazer when the vehicle entered the ditch on the east side of the road, struck a field approach and rolled.
Kaufenberg was transported by ambulance to the RC Hospital in Olivia with non-life-threatening injuries.
A passenger, Ethan Dennis Fischer, 24, of Lake Lillian, was flown from the scene to St. Cloud Hospital. Fischer’s injuries and his current condition are unknown, the release said.
The crash was reported at 2:10 p.m. Tuesday near the intersection of County Road 14 and 890th Avenue, which is approximately seven miles north of Olivia in Kingman Township.
The crash remains under investigation by the Renville County Sheriff’s Office.
Agencies that assisted with the crash included Olivia Ambulance, Life Link III helicopter, Olivia Police Department, Minnesota State Patrol, North Air Care.
Boats battle strong winds
WILLMAR — Boats on lakes in Kandiyohi County had to move fast to reach landings when high winds stirred the waters Monday evening.
The Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office received reports of boats and personal watercraft exceeding the county’s no wake advisory on Big Kandiyohi and Green Lakes around 8 p.m. Wind gusts of over 30 miles per hour were reported on land.
Boat operators contacted by sheriff’s officers said they had to move relatively fast to keep their boats under control as they attempted to maneuver to the landings amidst strong winds and large waves.
PRINSBURG — Three tires on a vehicle parked on the 400 block of Minnesota Avenue in Prinsburg were reported slashed Tuesday. The vehicle’s owner made the vandalism report.
SPICER — A resident on the 15000 block of Old Mill Road, Spicer, reported Monday that someone had entered his home and stolen a vacuum cleaner.
Tomasa Kay Flores, 22, of Willmar, was arraigned Tuesday in Kandiyohi County District Court on two counts of felony criminal sexual conduct in the third degree.
A criminal complaint alleges that she had sex with a 13-year-old boy in the stairwell of the Willmar Conference Center on May 10. The youth had been attending an event there.
A person involved with the event learned of the alleged incident and contacted the Willmar Police Department, which filed the charges. Flores told investigators she was intoxicated and did not know the boy’s age, according to the complaint.
