Red River drops below major flood stage at Wahpeton, N.D.

WAHPETON, N.D. - The Red River here dropped below major flood stage overnight.

Major flood stage at Wahpeton is 14 feet. The river dropped to 13.99 feet at about 3 a.m. today.

The National Weather Service predicts the river will remain above 13 feet for at least another week. Moderate flood stage at Wahpeton is 12 feet.

Meanwhile, the Red River at Fargo dropped below 37 feet late Wednesday but is expected to remain at high levels for some time. The weather service projects the river at 33.5 feet by next Wednesday. Major flood stage in Fargo is 30 feet
