OLIVIA -- Brian Noel Hester, 46, of Redwood Falls, will serve 35 months in prison for leading law officers on a high-speed chase in Renville County.

Renville County District Judge Randall Slieter sentenced Hester on Monday under terms of a plea agreement. Hester pleaded guilty April 3 to a felony charge of fleeing a police officer and a gross misdemeanor charge of driving while impaired.

Hester has been held in the Renville County Jail since his arrest on Dec. 4, the day of the high-speed chase. He led officers on a 38-mile chase, including speeds of 60 to 70 miles an hour while in the city of Morton.

Renville County Assistant Attorney Laurence Stratton said the court allowed Hester credit for the time he has served. Prior to beginning his term in prison, Hester will be appearing Friday in District Court in Redwood County for a hearing on a probation violation.
