Renville County to continue passport services

OLIVIA -- While a number of counties are discontinuing their practice of issuing passports, Renville County has committed to continue the service.

The County Board of Commissioners informally agreed Tuesday to set a $10 fee for passport photographs. Gail Miller, county recorder, suggested the fee after reporting that the needed equipment has been acquired to meet passport requirements.

New security rules have made it more difficult for counties to process passport applications, and many counties have opted to discontinue offering the service.

Miller and Sara Folsted, county administrator, said the county has developed a system to meet the requirements and continue offering the service.
