RENVILLE -- Crystal Nelson of Renville was one of three people who were winners in the recent Minnesota Farmers Feed US grocery giveaway program.
Winners were drawn at random from almost 50,000 entries made during visits to farmersfeedus.org.
Nelson received a $1,000 prize on Wednesday from Lisa Reeck, Farmers Feed US coordinator, and Eric Watson, local farmer and Renville County Farm Bureau member.
Miyuki Watson of Shoreview also won a $1,000 prize.
Grand prize winner Gail Olson of Blaine won free groceries for a year -- a $5,000 value.
The Farmers Feed US sweepstakes encourages people to visit farmersfeedus.org to watch short farm tour videos and sign up for free groceries. The 60-day promotion ran Aug. 15 and ended Oct. 13.
Being able to take a virtual tour and learn about multiple Minnesota farms provides a way to experience the state's agriculture for all those who registered for the giveaway, according to Reeck.
While the sweepstakes may be concluded for now, the website is still live and features 13 farms that represent a variety of the vast agriculture in Minnesota, she said.
Other farm groups joining Farm Bureau in the program are the Minnesota Department of Agriculture, Minnesota Pork Board, Midwest Dairy Association, Minnesota Soybean Research and Promotion Council, Minnesota Corn Growers Association, Minnesota Turkey Research and Promotion Council, Minnesota Beef Council, and The GNP Company.
