Rep. Falk newly appointed to two Minn. state panels
ST. PAUL — Rep. Andrew Falk, DFL-Murdock, was recently appointed to serve on the Agricultural Utilization Research Institute Board and on the Legislative Audit Commission.
The appointments are in addition to his role as vice chairman of the Environment, Natural Resources and Agriculture Finance Committee and membership on the Agriculture Policy, Energy Policy, Environment and Natural Resources Policy and Government Operations committees.
The Agricultural Utilization Research Institute helps develop new uses for agricultural products through science and technology, partnering with businesses and entrepreneurs to bring ideas to reality.
“Anytime I can have an opportunity to be leader on important issues in Minnesota, it’s something I take great pride in,” said Falk in a news release. “In particular, being able to serve on the AURI board gives me a chance to offer my expertise as a farmer and as someone who is greatly passionate about energy and environmental issues.”
The Legislative Audit Commission is a bipartisan commission with six members from the House of Representatives and six from the Senate, equally divided between the majority and minority parties.
The commission appoints the legislative auditor and selects topics for the auditor to review.
The commissioners serves as a “watchdog: for the legislature, said Falk, who is serving his third term representing western Minnesota.
