Reports: Litchfield's John Carlson agrees to contract with Vikings

Multiple media web sites are reporting Litchfield native John Carlson has agreed to sign with the Minnesota Vikings.

ESPN.com and CBSSports.com are reporting that Carlson has agreed to a contract.

Carlson is set to visit the Minnesota Vikings later today, according to TheSidelineView.com, possibly pairing incumbent starter Kyle Rudolph with a fellow Notre Dame standout.

The Vikings value two-tight-end sets, and despite missing 2011 with a shoulder injury, Carlson produced back-to-back 50-catch seasons in 2008-09.

The Vikings appear to be one of several teams in the mix for Carlson, who was a second-round pick out of Notre Dame in 2008 and is a native of Litchfield.

NFL free agency began Tuesday, and the Vikings were relatively quiet on the first day.
