Miller was endorsed on the first ballot with just over 60 percent of the vote of the 70 delegates at the convention Saturday at the Swift County Law Enforcement Center in Benson. Miller defeated retired teacher and high school coach Gary Nelson of Clara City.

Miller works for Habitat for Humanity of West Central Minnesota and also owns the consulting business Development Partners.

Miller will have a rematch with Falk, who defeated Miller in the 2012 House race. The district covers Chippewa and Swift counties, most of Renville County and the four southwestern townships of Kandiyohi County.

Allen Saunders, co-chair of the Swift County Republican Party, said about 80 people in all attended the convention.

“We had a good-sized group,’’ he said.

Saunders said it was good to have the endorsement process done early so Miller “can get out there and make himself known and campaign,’’ and also be ready for the U.S. Seventh District Republican Party Convention set in Willmar this coming Friday and Saturday.
