Research finds storm risk in Red River Valley not unlike ‘Tornado Alley’

FARGO, N.D. — The long forgotten “Tornado Belt” once ran smack through Fargo-Moorhead.

The arbitrary designation coincided with the Northern Pacific Railroad, extending from Duluth to Puget Sound, and supposedly marked the northern limit of tornadoes.
